The "Wheelhouse" Building Sign Project in Albany, Oregon.
zzzp25.jpg
8' tall directory for the "Wheelhouse" Building in Albany, Oregon.

The complete identity and directional sign project we did for the new "Wheelhouse" Building in Albany, Oregon, incorporated "brushed" silver aluminum sign faces that were mounted on black and grey plastic backgrounds.  Additionally, the brushed aluminum sign faces had additional cut-out graphics applied that also had "brushed" metallic finishes applied in vinyl.  The "brushed" metallic vinyl (in both silver and gold brushed finishes) was applied in a contrasting direction, so the "visual effect" is quite interesting.  Note that the sign panels also incorporate a graphic interpretation of the architectural design of the building itself.

The very high-class nature of the new "Wheelhouse" Building, being right on the Willamette River and having ultra-premium suites for lease that have priceless views of the river, required a special "logo" that would "echo" the history of the "wheelhouses" on the steamships/sternwheelers that actually went up and down the Willamette.  Therefore, the final logo that Liberty Sign and Mirror designed combined the historic-related architecture of the building itself and a tasteful reminder of the "wheelhouse" heritage.

A detail of the main directory showing the "brushed" silver and gold finishes.

The Main Directory in the lobby is a "piece of sculpture" all by itself, and "echos" the architectural design of the building itself.  Several different "layers" of black and grey plastic (in 1/4" and 1/8" thicknesses) and 1/16" thick aluminum have been "built-up" to give a nice sculptural impression; this theme has been carried thru-out the new 4-story "Wheelhouse" Building.

Above shows Roy McFaddin inside one of our sandblast rooms as he prepares one of the huge mirror murals (destined for the Shilo Suites Hotel in Killeen, Texas) for the sandblasting process.  This is one of the murals that were part of a recent $50,000 sandblasted mirror project. The theme for this project included many patriotic images, including the Statue of Liberty, the Alamo and other images specific for Texas.  All of these mirrors were carefully crated in Oregon and then shipped via a special trucking company which specialized in transporting fragile items; all of the mirrors arrived safely in Killeen, Texas!

Above shows some of the custom sign and mirror work (totaling $250,000) we did for the Shilo Suites Hotel by the Portland, Oregon Airport.  In the photo you can see large "back-etched" bronze mirrors that we also then painted on the back with transparent lacquer paint and then illuminated from the bottom.  you can also see some of the custom etched acrylic "pony walls" (with a "rose theme") framed in brass tubing.  Deeply-etched designs were also done on the many "mirror-columns" thru-out the property (one can be seen above).  A complete custom identification and directional signage system was also designed and installed for this project.

The $185,000 Pomona California Shilo Suites Hotel project involved a complete identification and directional signage system as well as many, many huge sandblasted bronze mirrors highlighting the points of interest near the Shilo.  These points of interest included Knotts Berry Farm, Disneyland, the Santa Anita Raceway and several other attractions, so the huge sandblasted mirror murals in the ballroom featured a stagecoach (for Knotts Berry Farm), a horse and rider racing at Santa Anita, Cinderella's Castle (Disneyland) and several other interesting graphics.  These etched mirror murals in the Ballroom were up to 10' tall and 25' feet wide each.

The registration desk area included etched green "Corian" as well as etched bronze mirror that incorporated custom upholstered graphics also done at the 50' x 100' Liberty Sign and Mirror shop in Monmouth, Oregon.
